Roc-A-Fella signee Amil hit the scene in the late 90s, joining Hard Knock Life Tour and appearing on songs alongside Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, Beanie Sigel, Memphis Bleek, and label head Jay-Z. In 2000 she released her debut album All Money Is Legal, which featured the singles “I Got That” (featuring Beyoncé) and “4 da Fam” (featuring Jay-Z, Memphis Bleek and Beanie Sigel).
She left the label shortly after her album release, telling VIBE in 2014 “I wasn’t there mentally. I was in my own world. Was I prepared? No. Did I realize what was happening right before my eyes? No.”
